Diet For Reducing Cholesterol
Cut out all dairy products, meat, wheat, and processed sugar from your diet. Do not eat anything that contains bad fat. The only fat I ate was pure raw coconut oil and cold-pressed organic flax seed oil. Replace butter with avocado. Eat healthy fats only.
Breakfast: There’s plenty of evidence that eating oatmeal lowers cholesterol levels.
Half a cup of organic porridge oats mixed with quinoa flakes. Quinoa has a subtle flavour with a fluffy, creamy and slightly crunchy texture. I added a couple of dessert spoons of Chia seeds. Soak the chia seeds in twice the amount of coconut water overnight. I put them in a glass jam jar, add the liquid, and shake until they expand. Add filtered water or coconut water and leave overnight in the fridge. If you use any nut milk, make sure it is pure and organic. I have one cup of coffee in the morning with soy milk. Herbal teas during the day. It’s impressive just how you get used to it. Ginger and Turmeric tea is so good to drink 2/3 cups daily.
One organic apple, wash it well. Avoid overeating fruit, as most fruit’s sugar content can be high. Eat as much salad as possible and as many fresh vegetables as possible. Many websites have great recipes for vegan food. How tasty you want to make your meals is really up to you. Stir-fries cooked lightly with coconut oil and coconut cream are good but don’t use too much. Eat anything that grows from the earth, cut out anything artificial and stick to organic coconut oil for cooking.
Eat organic brown rice and organic legumes, butter beans, etc. I purchase them in cans, but check they are organic and don’t contain sugar. Also, John West sardines, mackerel and fresh seafood like salmon, fresh trout, etc (not farmed). Eat an egg a day eggs, boiled or poached. No alcohol. Drink 1.5 lt of filtered water every day, not tap water, and include a glass of water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar; Braggs is the best you can buy.
Go Nuts: Walnuts-Almonds-Cashew, etc. Stay away from peanuts. The best option is Royal Nut Company. Put them all in a big container and grab a few when you feel peckish. As a treat, I buy cocoa chocolate from The Bulk Food Source. Have one square with a cup of herbal tea; it’s yummy. Remember, this diet is only for six weeks of your life, and after a week, you can feel so much better, and feeling better will inspire you to continue.
Do this for six weeks and get your fasting cholesterol level rechecked. Cutting out dairy can be life-transforming. But remember that your body does need good, healthy fats. You can have more energy and fewer aches and pains. Now, that’s worth all the willpower in the world. THE DOCTOR COULD NOT BELIEVE THE RESULTS when I had the second blood test done!
There are no symptoms associated with high cholesterol. It can only be detected through a blood test.
Blood results of 6.18 mmol/L are considered high. Everyone is different and have different cholesterol level. Our body needs cholesterol. Cholesterol plays an essential role in the production of hormones and cell building in the body. As cholesterol travels through the blood, it is carried by proteins called lipoproteins.
Lipoproteins carry different types of cholesterol. They are:
